Larry Mullen Jr, batterista degli U2, è più in forma di Cristiano Ronaldo, questo è quanto emerso dai risultati di una ricerca che ha dimostrato che ogni volta che il batterista degli U2 si esibisce per 90 minuti sul palco, brucia più calorie di un calciatore di Premiere League.
Anche Clem Burke, batterista dei Blondie, ha contribuito alla ricerca e si è evinto che suonare la batteria per un’ora-e mezzo alza la frequenza cardiaca allo stesso livello di un calciatore come Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ma mentre calciatori giocano solo circa 50 partite in un anno, il 46enne, batterista degli U2 probabilmente suda maggiormente soprattutto suonando ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday‘.
Chi si è fatto l’idea dell’immagine insalubre delle rock stars, si deve ricredere perchè come anche dichiarato da Dr Smith esse hanno bisogno di “straordinaria resistenza”.
Si spera che la ricerca, sostenuta dal governo britannico, possa contribuire a sviluppare programmi per bambini in sovrappeso che non mostrano interesse per lo sport.

Larry Mullen, U2’s drummer, is fitter than Cristiano Ronaldo, according to scientists. Every time the U2 drummer rocks his way through a 90-minute performance on stage, he burns more calories than a Premier League footballer, research has shown.
The eight-year study on Clem Burke, Blondie’s drummer, revealed that drumming for an hour-and-a-half raised his heart rate to the same level as footballer Cristiano Ronaldo in a typical league game.
But while footballers only play about 50 games a year, the 46-year-old U2 drummer probably gets sweaty in front of a drum kit more often, particularly when the band do ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday‘.
Despite the image of rock stars as unhealthy and unfit, Dr Smith said they needed “extraordinary stamina”.
It is hoped the research, which is backed by the British government, will help develop programmes for overweight children who are not interested in sport.
